Fade to Grey

About a month ago I was shown a tumblr which posted it's pictures in colour blocks. The name of the tumblr escapes but I'm sure it isn't the only one of it's kind. A simple idea but I loved the effect. I've been trying to find some inspiration to do my own kind of colour blocking and these photographs by Friederike von Rauch have defiantly done that. The above photographs are taken from Others and Ash. I love how sparse the photographs are, they feel so empty of life and yet they are the by product of it.

I wished I'd picked you up

On Sunday I went to Pick Me Up, a contemporary art fair. It's the third year I've gone to the annual fair and as always, I feel in love with several of the pieces and couldn't see the point of some them. Above is an example of mine and a friends amazing collaging. Material courtesy of artists in residence the Peepshow collective and National Geographic. Imagination, cutting skills and facts courtesy of ourselves.

Niki Pilkington was hands down my favourite with these two pieces. We all ummmed and arrred over whether to get a print and all decided not to. I had my sights on Small town girl, big town dreams. I wish I had got it now.

I've been looking for another couple of prints to go with my Amanada Mocci one and think one of Pilkington's could work. I'm tempted by the one below titled We Would All Be Kings, however, I think the Welsh puts me off a little.

Still Life

I tried to use the Diana instant back yesterday. It ended miserably, with most of the pictures evetually turning blue! I hate how much film I wasted and only realised afterwards it was because I had it on the wrong setting! I did however quite like the ones I took first on my phone. I've learnt my lesson and am going use the rest of the film this weekend in the sunshine.
