I ♥ Sleep
This is the first adult book I ever read and subsequently one of my favourites.
Having devoured House of Sleep at a young age, I set my sights on reading every novel Coe had to offer and yes I loved them all too. Particularly What a Carve Up!, based loosely on the same titled murder mystery film starring Sid James and Kenneth Conner, and The Accidental Woman.

Castle in my mind
I'm a major Miyazaki fan. Castle in the Sky was the first of his films I watched.
I fell in love with it.
But it took me around 10 years to find out what the name of the film was. All I had to go on was my memory of a robot, a Eden esque garden and a girl who wore a necklace.
For those who haven't watched a Miyazaki film I encourage you to do so, after all he is Japan's answer to Disney.

"If a girl says she’s not scared, then can’t even light her cigarette, it means she’s scared of something".
I always remember this scene and the way Jean-Paul Belmondo rubs his fingers across his lips, supposedly an homage to Bogart.

"Maybe that's what hell is, the entire rest of eternity spent in fucking Bruges. "
Great film. Great score. Simples.

Numero cinq
I was thinking about this advert the other day.
It's one of my favourites.
Little did I know that it was directed by Luc Bresson and the music is by Danny Elfman.

What a Mega Drive...
Games will never be as good as they were on the Mega Drive.
Note that MJ runs around finding lost children and grabbing his crutch when he does. This game came out between 1989-1990. His trial against Jordan Chandler was 3-4 years later in 1993.
Up, Down, Left, Right, A and then Start. You know you did it.

Can you dig it?
It might not seem like much but this is an amazing film.
The soundtrack.
A gang who are based on baseball and kiss.
A gang who's thing is roller skates.
A gang called the Lizzies who are all lesbians.
Add some real gangs as extras.
"Warrior's come out to play-i ay."
The Wonder Wheel.
And not forgetting the fact "These are the armies of the night. They are 100,000 strong. They outnumber the cops five to one. They could run New York City."

Shine
"My life, my life, my life, my life
In the sunshine...
Everybody loves the sunshine, sunshine
Everybody loves the sunshine, sunshine
Folk's get down in the sunshine, sunshine
Folk's get brown in the sunshine
Just bee's and thangs and flowers
Just bee's and thangs and flowers
Just bee's and thangs and flowers
Just bee's and thangs and flowers
My life, my life, my life, my life
In the sunshine..."
This picture and that song remind me of the summer.
Sadly it has officially come and gone.
I guess I bet start listening to California Dreaming...

More than meets the eye
I saw this photograph by Carol Jerrems (the one Juliet is so nicely holding), in the Art Gallery of New South Wales when I was 16. I brought the poster and the postcard. One of which has hung up in every room I've had since.
The reason I didn't put the original on?
Because I think I prefer this one. I've appreciated Vale Street #2 for the last 8 years. It's nice to see a little more of it. Like a deleted scene or an extra chapter if you will.

New York, I Love You (et Paris)
I feel in love with Paris.
I had my New York moment.
Now I'm waiting to fall in love with it again.
